What Is a Brick Built Duck?

While the tradition of hiding rubber ducks on cruise ships has brought smiles to thousands of passengers, I wanted to bring something a bit more "constructed" to the table. Every duck I hide is hand-built entirely from Genuine Lego bricks.

I’ve sought out a signature fleet of designs that I recreate for every trip. Whether it’s a classic yellow rubber duck or a specialized voyager, these brick-built companions are engineered to be sturdy, recognizable, and ready for adventure. When you find one, you’re finding a piece of a larger, ongoing mission to spread fun across the deck.

The Mission: Build. Board. Hide.

My process is simple, but the goal is meaningful: spark a little bit of joy.

• The Build: Back in my home, I spend hours snapping together these Lego brick-built treasures, ensuring they are ready for their sea legs.

• The Deployment: Once on board, I treat the ship like a massive scavenger hunt . I scout the ship for the perfect "hiding" spots—Perched on a ledge near the pool deck, tucked behind a pillar in the atrium, or waiting patiently on a bookshelf in the library.

• The Hunt: To bring the game to life, I post clues to help fellow passengers join the search. It’s about more than just stumbling upon a toy; it’s about the thrill of the chase and making the “hunt” come alive for everyone on board.

• The Discovery: I hide them for the "Aha!" moment. Whether you are a lifelong Lego fan or just a traveler exploring the decks, finding a duck is a little gift from one passenger to another.
